Pet Therapy Dog
Bodhi of the Rockies
When we walk around to see people, once in a while someone doesn’t want to visit with Bodhi. Some people are ok with dogs and pet him quickly, but don’t love him. Most people get very excited to meet him and love petting Bodhi. And then there are people who need to see him.
Today we met a woman who needed him.
She was in the waiting room and when we came in, she said, “How did you know I needed to see you today?” She and Bodhi connected eye to eye for a long time. She was even crying. She talked about her dogs at home. Bodhi wanted to stay with her for a long time, and when that happens, I just let the magic unfold. She mentioned a few times that she really, really needed him today. I’m always happy when they tell me that, and feel very appreciated. It was a very special visit.
We visited a patient who looked pretty excited to see Bodhi. He owned three Goldens in his lifetime but didn’t want to go through the heartache of losing them again. He said he was leaving the hospital today and it made the day even more special that he got to pet Bodhi. I love those kind of visits.
And then of course Bodhi visited all of his favorite nurses, getting treats and loving from multiple people at once. He met this group in the lobby and they were excited to see him. They thought it was cool that he had business cards and a blog, and were happy to share a photo with him for his blog.
And I’m happy to share Bodhi with the world.
