Pet Therapy Dog
Bodhi of the Rockies
Something really magical happened today.
Four people were in the second floor surgery waiting room and as we went from person to person to say hello and talk a little, and I could see everyone waiting their turn. Every one of them said they had dogs too. Most everyone we meet is a dog lover.
One woman made a great comment and said there’s a reason why “dog” spelled backwards is “god.”
Magical interaction
The last woman was on her phone. I believe that dogs think that we are on the phone way too much (we are). Bodhi went up to her for a second but waited for her to get off the phone so she could give him undivided attention.
As we talked, the woman told me about her dad who died recently. She previously asked him what religion he was and he said “dog”. Then after he died, she was with her siblings cleaning out his house and had the song B-I-N-G-O in her head. She didn’t even realize the song was about a dog.
She told her sister and brother… and they both had that song in their head too!
She knew that her dad was trying to send them messages. Now that she looks for signs from him, she receives a lot of dog-related signs.
Message Received
Bodhi laid down near her and would not leave. I pulled him a little but he was not budging. I even walked out of the room and he did not follow me – highly unusual. She asked if he had ever done that before and I said no. She was amazed. I think her dad was channeling Bodhi and sending his best wishes for her surgery.
At this point everyone else was paying attention too. The guy across the room even tried calling Bodhi over. Bodhi wagged his tail on the floor but stayed with the woman. We stayed for a while; I didn’t want to pull Bodhi away.
I knew there was a reason he needed to stay with her today.
And there was. It was really a special moment.
